Job Description
An established and growing legal practice is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Cashier / Finance Assistant to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional looking to develop their career within a busy legal environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the firm's financial operations, ensuring compliance with legal accounting procedures and delivering an efficient service to fee earners, clients and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Processing client and office account transactions in accordance with legal accounting regulations (SRA)
- Managing electronic payments, bank transfers and payment requests.
- Posting receipts and payments accurately onto the practice management system.
- Reconciling client and office bank accounts.
- Assisting with billing processes, including the generation of invoices and credit notes.
- Handling client account queries and resolving finance-related enquiries via telephone and email.
- Monitoring outstanding balances and supporting credit control activities.
- Processing disbursements and supplier payments.
- Managing dormant balances and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Producing financial reports and management information as required.
- Supporting month-end procedures and general finance administration.
- Maintaining accurate financial records, filing and archiving documentation.
- Assisting fee earners and colleagues with cashiering and accounts-related queries.
- Previous experience in a legal cashiering, finance assistant or accounts position.
- Strong numerical and reconciliation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with clients and colleagues.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with legal accounting systems would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Salary of -26,000 - £30,000, dependent on experience.
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
