Depot Manager

Full Time | Permanent
£60,000 - £65,000 DOE + Bonus & Benefits
Location: Reading
Hours 42.5 - 6am - 10pm, Monday to Friday with call out Techs.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Depot Manager to lead a busy commercial vehicle aftersales operation. This role is ideal for a strong leader with main dealer workshop experience who can drive performance, develop teams, and deliver exceptional customer service within a fast-paced environment.
You will take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the depot, overseeing both the service and parts departments while ensuring operational efficiency, compliance, and profitability across the business.

Key Responsibilities

andmiddot;Manage and develop the overall aftersales operation
andmiddot;Drive profitability across service and parts departments
andmiddot;Improve workshop efficiency, productivity, and staff utilisation
andmiddot;Assist with budgeting and financial performance alongside senior management
andmiddot;Ensure full Health & Safety compliance across the depot
andmiddot;Lead recruitment, development, and performance management of staff
andmiddot;Maintain high customer service standards and exceed client expectations
andmiddot;Implement training and development plans for all depot employees
andmiddot;Ensure the premises are maintained to a high operational standard
andmiddot;Monitor warranty and contract processes effectively
andmiddot;Resolve invoice-related queries in a timely and professional manner
andmiddot;Support business development activities and identify growth opportunities
andmiddot;Participate in operational improvement initiatives and performance campaigns

Candidate Requirements

andmiddot;Previous experience within a Main Dealer commercial vehicle environment
andmiddot;Strong leadership and people management skills
andmiddot;Excellent organisational and communication abilities
andmiddot;Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
andmiddot;Customer-focused approach with strong problem-solving skills
andmiddot;Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures
andmiddot;IT literate with experience using workshop/dealer systems
andmiddot;Full UK driving licence required

Desirable Experience

andmiddot;HGV licence

andmiddot;Experience working with commercial vehicle brands

andmiddot;Knowledge of dealer management systems
