Our client, a well-established architectural practice with an expanding design team, is seeking a talented Architectural Technologist to join their collaborative team close to Meadowhall, Sheffield. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across the public sector, the practice combines technical expertise with a practical, client-focused approach. The team works across a diverse portfolio, with a particular focus on Healthcare, Higher Education and local authority projects, offering an excellent opportunity to develop your technical skills and gain experience across a variety of sectors.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven Architectural Technologist with a strong technical background and a desire to progress professionally. This role would suit a graduate with 2-3 years' post-qualification experience looking to take the next step in their career, although more experienced and chartered candidates will also be considered. You will join an established design team, working closely with experienced colleagues and contributing to the delivery of projects from design development through to completion. The practice is committed to supporting professional development, making this an excellent opportunity for someone with ambitions to achieve chartership.

You will have the chance to get involved in a varied portfolio of projects, including Healthcare, Higher Education and local authority schemes, with a strong emphasis on refurbishment, technical design and smaller-scale new-build projects. Approximately 95% of the practice's workload is within the public sector, providing exposure to technically challenging projects and a wide range of building types. Our client primarily uses a blend of Revit and AutoCAD, with opportunities to develop your BIM capabilities as the practice continues to expand its use of the software.

Architectural Technologist Overview

  • Produce high-quality architectural drawings, technical details and construction information across a variety of projects.
  • Contribute to the delivery of projects from design development through to construction and completion.
  • Undertake technical design and detailing for refurbishment, conversion and new-build projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of feasibility studies, planning submissions and building regulations applications.
  • Coordinate technical information with structural engineers, building services consultants and other external professionals.
  • Support the delivery of projects across healthcare, higher education and local authority sectors.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and clients to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to a high technical standard.
  • Apply a thorough understanding of UK building regulations and relevant construction standards.
  • Contribute to the development of the practice's Revit capabilities and standardised BIM family models, where appropriate.
  • Maintain clear and proactive communication with project teams to ensure cohesive project delivery.
  • Take an active role in professional development, with support available for those working towards chartership.

Architectural Technologist Requirements

  • Live within a commutable distance of Sheffield
  • Relevant qualification in Architectural Technology or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 2-3 years' post-qualification experience or more, with applications welcomed from candidates at varying stages of their career.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience producing detailed architectural information.
  • Experience across RIBA Stages 3-7, ideally.
  • Good knowledge of either Revit or AutoCAD
  • Good knowledge of UK building regulations and construction methods.
  • Ambition to achieve chartership or continue professional development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, other professionals and clients.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and contribute effectively within a team.
  • Highly motivated, organised and confident, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
