A great opportunity has come up for a talented Architect with a passion for building conservation to join a welcoming, RIBA-chartered practice in Oxfordshire.

The practice is known for its commitment to sustainability and historic buildings, and for giving existing structures a new lease of life through considered, innovative and sympathetic design. It's an ideal move for an Architect looking to join an experienced team, deepen their technical and design expertise, and take on a varied mix of conservation and heritage projects, from initial concept to completion.

Requirements:

• ARB registration and RIBA qualification.
• Relevant post-qualification experience in a UK practice, preferably with a background in conservation, heritage or historic buildings.
• A real enthusiasm for historic buildings, conservation and sustainable architectural design.
• Strong design and technical ability, with a sound understanding of how existing and historic buildings can be repaired, adapted and improved with sensitivity.
• Proven experience across all project stages, from early concept design through to technical design and construction.
• Confident AutoCAD skills, with the ability to produce accurate drawings and project information.
• Good working knowledge of UK planning, building regulations and conservation requirements.
• Excellent communication, organisational and teamworking skills, and the ability to work well with colleagues, clients and consultants.
• A full, clean driving licence and access to a car, with the ability to travel around Oxfordshire, would be an advantage.

Role:

• Leading and contributing to projects across a range of RIBA stages, from early concepts and feasibility through to construction.
• Creating imaginative, sympathetic design proposals for historic, traditional and existing buildings.
• Producing high-quality drawings, technical information and presentation material.
• Delivering conservation, repair, restoration and sensitive adaptation projects.
• Using sustainable design principles to enhance the performance, usability and lifespan of existing buildings.
• Collaborating closely with directors, clients, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders.
• Preparing and submitting planning, listed building and other relevant applications.
• Driving project delivery through programmes, specifications, technical information and coordination.
• Providing contract administration and construction-stage services.
• Applying your knowledge of conservation principles, planning requirements and the technical challenges of working with historic buildings.
• Playing an active part in the practice, shaping design development and sharing your experience with colleagues.
